'같은 조건의 롤모델을 만나다' 팔 없는 아이의 특별한 경험

한쪽 팔이 없는 아이와 청년의 만남이 감동을 자아냈습니다.

온라인 미디어 리틀띵스는 자신들만의 독특함이 특별한 인연으로 이어진 사연을 게시했습니다. 

플로리다에 사는 두 살 배기 조셉 티드(Joseph Tidd)는 왼쪽 팔 아래쪽이 없이 태어났습니다. 그의 부모님은 아들이 긍정적인 환경에서 살 수 있도록 많은 노력을 기울였습니다. 그 중 하나가 좋은 롤모델을 만들어 주는 것이었죠. 부부가 뽑은 롤모델은 조셉과 같이 왼쪽 팔뚝이 없이 태어난 올랜도 프라이드의 카슨 피켓(Carson Pickett·25) 선수였습니다. 

두 사람은 지난 4월에 처음으로 만났습니다. 첫 만남에서 카슨은 조셉의 팔을 가리키면서 "우리는 같은 팔을 갖고 있네!"라고 외쳤다고 하는데요. 그 후 둘은 주먹 인사를 했고 조셉은 누구보다도 환하게 웃었습니다. 

이때의 인연은 계속 이어져 카슨은 여러 경기에 조셉을 초대했습니다. 경기장 맨 앞줄에 앉아 경기를 보는 조셉은 항상 첫 만남 때처럼 환하게 웃으면서 경기를 본다고 합니다. 

이들의 이야기는 인터넷 상에서 화제가 되었고, 많은 사람들에게 긍정적인 영향을 주었는데요. 조셉의 어머니는 언론에 "무엇보다도 이 일이 보여준 긍정적 인식이 경이롭다"라고 대답했습니다.
